How to migrate exchange server 2007 to another exchange 2007 and decommissioning the first
Hi there,Two years ago I migrated my exchange organization to exchange 2007. All work well. My organization has only one exchange server with HT, MB and CAS roles enabled. In DMZ network we have a SMTP relay host with antivirus and antispam functionality that manages inbound andoutbound SMTP traffic between internet and the internal exchange server. Outlook clients are not only 2007, but we have some early version. Now I am trying to migrate my Exchange 2007, to another Exchange 2007. I need to change the obsolete hardware.I have installed a new exchange 2007 server and added it to the organization. Now I have todo some steps, for example change the source server in send connector, add the receive connector to the new HT, change generation server for offline address book, manage public folder replication, move the users mailbox, and so on.I am kind of at a loss here on what to do, can someone point me in the right direction on what steps to take in order to make this migration successful? We are running Server 2003 R2. As well, as soon the migration is completed we will bedecommissioning the Exchange on the 1st server, so we will only have one exchange server again. Any help would greatly be apprieciated. ThanksSimone

It is a pretty simple process. You will be preparing your second Server by follow method 1. Install OS. 2. Join it to Domain 3. Configure DNS 4. Apply SP and Hotfixes. 5. Install Exchange 2007 SP1 Setup and download the prerequisite Tools ->Select MB,HT,CA roles 6. Apply the Rollup and hotfixes 7. Move Mailboxes. 8. Replicate Public Folders I have also attached the article for same http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb310767.aspx Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Hiyou must re-create Send connectors,Recesive connectors,Transport policies on the new server. Then change MX records for the new HT server and same time update the DNS server.AFter that you can move mailboxes to the new server. Then remove old server from Organization.ALso you must transfer CAS setting to new server such as Web.config file ,SSL.here is the article for moveing OAB to new serverHow to Move the Offline Address Book Generation Process to Another Serverhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123917.aspxMigrating Exchange 2007 on Windows Server 2003 to Exchange 2007 SP1 on Windows Server 2008http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc296562.aspxRegardsChinthaka

I know this is old one but my problem is very much like this. Im running windows 2008R2 with, wait for it Exchange 2007, I know I should not be able to but I am. Now we had a crash last year so I had to Migrate to a new server (workstation) to get us working again. The server has been fixed and is ready for exchange to come back. Now the problem. The server i am going to will have Exchange 2007 SP3, Im sure i've read something that I need to domain prep again for sp3, anyway. ANything special I should do to mirgrate from 2007 to sp3 on new hardware? Cheers Garv
