How to lock down remote access from a specific computer?
I am currently dealing with someone who used one of our laptops to access their network and is refusing to give it back unless we agree to allow them to reformat the disk. He is worried that deleting the information from the laptop will not ensure that we will not hack into his network. Why he thinks our company would hack into his is still a complete mystery. My question is, is there some way to make him understand that he can keep me from getting into his network (not that I want to) without reformatting the disk? What would be the best route for him to do this. I do not know how he set up his network to allow him access with this computer, so I have to go by the idea that he used a user account on their server that was already created for the company and therefore cannot be deleted. Otherwise, I couldn't imagine why there would be an issue. Can he use Ipsec or is there a program that I could use on the computer to make sure the access data in Remote Access is totally wiped? Thanks

I think you need to remind him that the laptop is not his property and he needs to return it. As for him being worried about using the laptop to access his network, he needs to understand that if he is that worried then he needs to change all his passwords or even remove the Remote Access to his network. Wiping the your laptop clean will not make his network any safer. You could always compromise and agree to wipe his profile instead of the whole machine. If you want a good/free program to the wipe, search for Eraser. Thanks Will FYI, this thread is normally for Exchange Server Admin related questions.
