How to install a Business Contact Manager 2013 database on SQL Server 2014
When I use the BCM Database Tool 2013 to create a database on a server, it doesn't pick up on any of my SQL Server 2014 instances. So far I can only get it to pick up SQL Server 2008 R2 instances in order to install the BCM database.

Someone  mentioned that it works with SQL Server 2012, so is there any way to get it work on the 2014 version? I don't want to have to install 2008 or 2012 just for the sake of BCM.

Yes and no.  I have been struggling with this problem for quite some time.  What I have determined is that when you install SQL Server 2014 and the Business Contact Manager Database Tool, the database tool cannot retrieve the list of SQL Server instances.  However, if you previously had the BCM database in SQL 2008 or 2012 and then upgraded SQL Server to 2014, your database would continue to work (BCM clients could still connect and use the database) but the BCM Database Tool would no longer see the SQL Server instances.

I am now pretty much chained to my BCM 2010 database as I have no way to migrate to 2013 and I can't downgrade the SQL 2014 database.  Consequently, all my clients using BCM have to stay on Outlook 2010.

I am really hoping that Microsoft releases a new version of the database tool that will work with SQL 2014.
