I have server 2008 running exchange 2007. I need my clients to go to http://mail.mydomain.com anywhere in the world and I want them to see the outlook web access. Please tell me step by step instructions as I'm very junior in this area.

You're going to need to make it https. :)This comes down to DNS configuration. You will need an A record in public DNS to point to mail.mydomain.comBefore I go on though are the CAS going to be directly attached to the Internet or will ISA be in front etc?SF - MCITP:EMA, MCTS: MOSS 2007, OCS 2007, Exchange 2007

I did the first step. Now when I go to mail.mydomain.com I see the IIS7 page in my server 2008. I don't know what you mean by "are the CAS going to be directly attached to the Internet or will ISA be in front etc?"

I basically want my url mail.mydomain.com to look like mail.noralta.com
October 8th, 2009 6:11am

Hi,The owa url will be HTTPS://mail.noralta.com/owa by default after you installed the CAS. But you can simplify the url.more details: How to Simplify the Outlook Web Access URLhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998359.aspxI think Scott's mean is how you publish your OWA URL , throught ISA server or fireware.Frank Wang

I already did as per your instructions above but now I get page not found when I go to mail.mydomain.com. I just wanted to tell you a bit more below:My domain www.mydomain.com is being hosted by godaddy and I have made my A record and set my mx to point to the WAN ip address of my server 2008 which is in my home which also has exchange 2007 installed on it.

Have you setup IIS redirects and reconfigure the error?Try this: Configure IIS 7.0 for Redirects: On the Client Access Server modify the iisstart.html page in C:\inetpub\wwwroot to the following: <html> <head> <title>HTML Redirection to https:</title> <META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="1; URL=https://webmail.url.com/exchange"> </head> <body> This page is attempting to redirect you to <a href=" https:// webmail.url.com /exchange/">https:// https:// webmail.url.com /exchange</a><br> If you are not redirected within a few seconds, please click the link above to access Outlook Web Access. </body></html> Also, configure the IIS 7.0 error pages: Error Code 403 – Set to Respond with a 302 Redirect and specify the URLHope that helps. I changed the domain controller and also deleted the entry in hub transport for baitunnur.local and added a new one called baitunnur.org in exchange So you change the domain name, don't you? I suppose you domain is Windows 2003 domain, isn't it?deleted the entry in hub transport for baitunnur.local and added a new one called baitunnur.org in exchangeDo you mean you change the setting:Server Configuration->server->Modify Configuration Domain...If these are ture, you cannot rename the windows 2003 domain. You Cannot Rename a Windows 2003 Domain When Exchange 2007 Is Installed Frank Wang

I will tell you the detail of my hardware and what I have done so far. I have a brand new server 2008 and I have installed exchange 2007 sp1 on it. Then I updated my A record and MX record to point to the WAN ip of my server 2008 in my mosque. When I first installed server 2008 I by accident set the domain to baitunnur.local but after I realized that it should be baitunnur.org so I did that. I already did the step you said above "deleted the entry in hub transport for baitunnur.local and added a new one called baitunnur.org in exchange"Now that I have told you the deatail how to setup outlook web access on my hardware in the mosque and get access from outside like mail.noralta.com

Check in DNS to check it. Basically from a DNS Server/Domain Controller open DNS and look at your foward zones. First it was baitunnur.local so I deleted it and added new zone as mail.baitunnur.orgSo, I'm trying to figure out how the server was part of baiutnnur.local and then baitunnur.org if you only have one domain. When I first installed exchange with sp1 my server was part of domain baitunnur.local but when I searched on the web about A record and MX record I changed my server domain from baitunnur.local to baitunnur.orgHow many exchange servers in your org? 1The server has to belong to your Active Directory Domain. So in this case it would be server.baitunnur.org. I have named it mail.baitunnur.orgYou will need to do a setup /p /on:orgname before installing Exchange so that the proper objects get created in the domain. How can I do this if I have already installed exchange with sp1I am also a bit curiosu to know how you installed Exchange on this server, what roles are running. I just installed by inserting the disk and following the instructions. The roles are - Active Directory Certificate Servicesi - Active Directory Domain ServicesX - Application Server - DHCP Serveri - DNS ServerX - Fax Serveri - File Services - Network Policy and Access Services! - Print ServicesX - Streaming Media Services - Terminal Services! - Web Server (IIS) - Windows Deployment ServicesAnother thought woudl be to delete the owa virtual directory and then recreate it.
