How to get Outlook contacts into Android's contact list?

I have just installed Outlook by Microsoft Corp onto my Android Asus ZenFone 2. From the Outlook app, I can see under People all my contacts from the Exchange server, with other contacts on the phone's contact list.  However, from the phone's contact list, I cannot see the Outlook account, I can see only Google, WhatsApp, SIM, device, etc.

Is the Microsoft Outlook app a "normal" phone app like all the other apps with contact lists?

Thanks.

Hi,

As per the information and details provided by you, to get the Outlook contacts into Androids contact list, please follow these steps: -

Gmail is an excellent import tool fir contacts exported in an Outlook CSV form.

  • Login to Gmail that is associated with your Android device, go to the Contacts from drop down menu up left, More > Import function.

  • This will allow you to choose the CSV file you just got out of Outlook on your computer, and upload it to Gmail. Here they are all your Outlook contacts synced with your new Android device.

I hope this information will be helpful for you.

Thanks and regards

Hi, thanks for the suggested workaround. However, I don't want to import my Outlook contacts into Google. I still want to maintain my this list of contacts in Exchange.

The Android phone is able to take contact lists from different accounts: Gmail, WhatsApp, Exchange, etc and make them available to all applications that uses contacts (phone number, email, etc).  If I configure Exchange on the built-in mail app, my Exchange Contact list would automatically be in the phone's Contact list.

However, I am unable to configure Exchange on the built-in stock email app because of the need for a mysterious client certificate (see here).  So I went to install the Outlook app which I thought was neat and moreover it's from Microsoft.  However, this app does not seem to behave like other apps with contact lists.

The certificate should be provided by your IT department (if you ask, they probably have an expired certificate).

As for the Outlook app - is it not possible to show contacts on the phone the same way as you do with Exchange, Gmail, sim card ect? you know - the menu where you choose which contacts to be displayed.

I finally managed to install Exchange on the stock email app, by ignoring the client certificate.  So now I have all my Exchange contacts onto the phone.

@cscpj, yes, I could not show contacts from the Outlook app in the phone Contacts app.  Under "Contacts to display", I can choose from Google account 1, Google account 2, WhatsApp, SIM1, SIM2, device, and Corporate (ie stock email app). No Outlook app.  A pity, because I actually like the Outlook app better than the stock Android mail app.
