How to edit the autodiscover settings for Exchange 2013

Hello,

I can edit some Autodiscover settings in ECP, but not enough. Problem is that with autodiscover, these two lines are automatically checked:
- On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
- On slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP

But that gives continuously the login screen when starting Outlook and every client must disable those two manually. This does not seems to appear on Apple devices.

Anyone knows how to do that?

Thanks.

Hi Erjen_Rijnders

you can to control these two options by using the below command

Set-outlookprovider

with Outlookproviderflag parameter

As Abdelrahman pointed out, the command would be:

Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -OutlookProviderFlags:None

That should get rid of the "On fast networks.." option.
"EXPR" is the name of the provider used for RPC over HTTP.

You can also enforce these settings on the client with Group Policies.

Hi,

In Microsoft Exchange Server 2013, the Outlook Anywhere feature, formerly known as RPC over HTTP, lets clients who use Microsoft Outlook 2013, Outlook 2010, or Outlook 2007 connect to their Exchange servers from outside the corporate network or over the Internet using the RPC over HTTP Windows networking component:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123741%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Therefore, these options should be checked both in Outlook for RPC over HTTP connection in Exchange 2013.

Thanks for the answers, but if it's needed to be turned on, then how can I avoid the continuously appearing password screen? They keep appearing every 2/3 minutes.

Thanks again.

Hi,

Does the password screen issue happen to all users?

If it only happens to one user, please clear the credential manager in control panel to have a try. About how to remove cached credentials, please follow these steps:

1. Launch the Credential Manager from Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Credential Manager.

2. In the Generic Credentials section youll see a setting for [MS Outlook] which will include your SSO details. Click the downward-pointing arrow to the right of that value.

3. In the expand details, click Remove from vault. Then Outlook will no longer have a stored copy of your password.

Thanks Winnie Liang, editing the OutlookProvider settings was not the solution. Those two checkboxes should be enabled.

The problem was the certificate. I configured a CNAME record for the autodiscover but that didn't work. Turns out it should be an SRV-record. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2772058

The autodiscover record must be removed from dns or point it in the hostfile to a non existing IP.
This fixed my certificate issue and the login screen issue.

Thanks for the help!
