How to display chinese names(characters) in Excel 2007.

I have a report with both Chinese and English names, How can I display Chinese names in my report instead of off all the symbols that are showing. I have tried adding simplified Chinese language in MS office language settings 2007, also tried installing language pack,  and tried to convert report to .txt format and saved as utf-8 in the notepad and then tried opening in Excel. None of these worked. Any help is much appreciated.

Many thanks

Ezra

Hi Ezra,

Does Chinese characters shows correctly in other Office programs, such as Word, PowerPoint?

Could you please upload a sample file so that we can fix the issue more efficiently? You can share the sample file with us by sending it to GBSD TN Office Information Collection ibsofc@microsoft.com.

Hi Ezra,

We may also try the following steps to see the result:

1. Open the Excel file and copy the Chinese characters.

2. Open Notepad and paste the Chinese characters to the notepad.

3. Save the notepad file and close it.

4. Now, open the saved notepad file again, you should be able to see that the unreadable Chinese characters have been converted to readable text.

5. Then, copy all Chinese characters and paste them back to Excel file to see the result.
