How to differentiate office 365 user and OnPreise mailbox user with any attribute in AD?

We have exchange 2013 & office 365 environment

Is there any attribute by which we can differentiate a user whether he belongs to office 365 / On Pr

Hi Manju,

When you run get-mailbox there are several attributes that can identify an O365 user.

WindowsLiveID
MicrosoftOnlineServicesID
Database
Servername

I Manju,

do you want Exchange attribute or AD attribute?

For exchange attribute you can use Remoterecipienttype

If ON prem user it will say NOne

If Office365 user it will say Migrated

Its also easier to export user info from ECP, there its a field call Mailbox Type.

For 365 users it will say Office 365

For on prem user it will say User

For AD attribute you can use Targetaddress.

If on prem user this field has no value

If O365 user it will have value smtp:user1@domain.mail.onmicrosoft.com
