The primary SMTP address is what will become the sender's address. If you have an edge server you can (I think) use transport rules to rewrite the address. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

You can't unless you change the default primary smtp to def.com unless you do a rewrite which requires edge. Any reason why you can't change the default primary smtp to def.com?James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

Need to be more specific as the first two pages of google don't provide how to do this specific task. I'm guessing its not a commonly used feature!

hi, According to your request. As the blog say, you should first enable the outbound rewrite feature. You should do like this: Enable-TransportAgent Identity Address Rewriting Outbound agent Then you should do like this: New-AddressRewriteEntry Name "abc.com to def.com" -InternalAddress abc.com Exter nalAddress def.com After you do that, every message sent from abc.com will be displayed as send from def.com to external recipient. hope can help you thanks, CastinLu TechNet Community Support Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help. thanks but that is not what i need. "After you do that, every message sent from abc.com will be displayed as send from def.com to external recipient." i dont want every outgoing email rewritten, i only want ones that are sent to a SPECIFIC external domain. thanks

The address rewrite won't be able to do that sort of conditional rewriting. You will have to look into a custom transport agent. You will need to post in the dev forum.James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com
