How to create two connectors in exchange server 2003 with same cost
You can either create two connectors or create a single connector and list both smart hosts on the same connector. It doesn't load balance though, it simply does round robin. SimonSimon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

No matter how many SMTP connectors or virtual servers you have they all use the same IP address on the machine. There's no "load balancing" built in to Exchange, just "round robin" if you use multiple smart hosts on the same connector. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Hi, You can deploy a single send connector with multiple smart hosts. As far as I know, when you configure that way, the send connector uses them in a rotating order, so that the smart hosts forward email equally.
