How to create a hot standby for default SMTP virtual server?
Hi, I would like to have a hot standby of our current default SMTP virtual server. The default SMTP server also serves as our master member server and local bridgehead.I have built a new exchange 2000 server and configured it in the same way as the default SMTP virtual server - However when looking at any of the queues for the other servers on the new server I get the error"The virtual server instance is not running. Please start the virtual server and try again" I cannot resolve this error. Can anyone help?I also get the same error when looking at the queues on the new server from the old servers. In the event of failure of the default SMTP virtual server, I understand that I have to manually select the new server as a master, configure the default SMTP server to be the new server and inform DNS hosting of the changes. - Is this correct? Is this the best way to go about doing this - How do other people incorporate redundanct here? Thanks,
