How to create 2 same user name in Exchange server 2007?
Our mails (with 10 different domains) were hosting by vendor. I would like to bring them in to my domain (test.com). I set it up, installed and added those 10 domains under my domain (test.com). My domain (test.com) already had account called email@removed . Each of my domains (10 domains) also had account called: email@removed , email@removed , email@removed Every time when I tried to create new account in Exchange 2007 that used same name (accounting) but used different domain ( email@removed , email@removed , it said the accounting name is existed in the system. Is there any way that I can create these accounts as same user name but have different domain? Thank you, Basler

Hi, Change the Organizational Unit in Active Directory where u are trying to create two similar name users. i.e. Create each user in some unique OU so that same name users may not be placed in same OU. Regards,Laeeq Qazi|Team Lead(Exchange + Sharepoint + BES + DynamicsCRM) www.HostingController.com

Hi, I created 2 OUs (test1.com, test2.com) in AD. In test1.com, I created testoutlook@test1.com and it accepted. In test2.com, when I created testoutlook@test2.com I got an message ath it is not allow me to process it: "The pre-Windows 2000 logon name you have chosen is already in use in this domain. Choose another pre-Windows 200 logon name, and then try again". My AD is Windows 2003 and My Mail server is Exchange server 2007 that installed in Windows 2008. Thank you, Basler

This isn't an Exchange issue, though. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

The pre-Windows 2000 logon name is also called SamAccountName which should be unique to each mailbox user in an AD domain, as Rich has already told. So if you are creating mailbox using EMC then mention a different SamAccountName ( User logon name (pre Windows 2000)) OR if you are creating mailbox using EMS or powershell then mention -SamAccountName property with some unque value at the time of mailbox creation. Usually people use some specific format for Alias and SamAccountName properties of a mailbox like User_Organization or User_SmtpDomain etc, which are normally unique. You will not be able to do that Because testoutlook property "SamAccountName" is used by another recipient object. Irrespective of number of domains in the forest, you could have unique SMTP address. Thanks Your expertise never fails to impress!
