Hi,
I have two Visio Files, created in Visio 2010. One of the Visio File has been created under the UML Model Diagram Template and the other under non UML diagram template. I need to create a new file, which is a combination of both of these diagrams. The new file will have to two pages. One page will have the UML Sequence Diagram while the other will have the non UML Sequence Diagram. Both the pages size is same, A4.
So I created a new Blank Visio Diagram, selected all the components from the non-UML Diagram Template by going to Home > Select > Select All option, and then pasted them in the new Visio Diagram. The new Blank Visio Diagram was created using the menu option File > New > Blank Drawing. Then I created a new blank page. Finall I went to the file which had the UML Diagram Template selected all the components by going to Home > Select > Select All option, went to the new Diagram and pasted all the UML Components over there. The components came up fine.
However in the new Visio Diagram file when I try to open any of the UML Shapes, i.e. Message or State or any other it gives me the error,
"This UML shape exists on a drawing page which is not part of a UML model diagram.
This shape is designed to work in drawings created using the UML Model Diagram template."
So the question is can i combine two visio files, each with their own templates into a single file? And can I add a more than one template to visio file? If answer to any or both of these questions is yes then how?
