How to configure emails with mulple extensions in a single mailbox server and with one 2008 domain
Hi , I have situation like . 1: windows 2008 server with one active directory and dns installed on that . 2: Exchange server 2007 with only one mail mailbox storage . The mail company domain is company1.com and user email is configured as user@company1.com . We have three more child companies under the company1 . All the three have different names . Let it be dept1,dept2 and dept3 . They are configured as 3 different OUs . First OU is dept1 and so on . My problem is the management wants to create new email extensions to all the departments . Its like user@dept1.com ,user@dept2.com and user@dept3.com . Please tell me how we can create user with the email having the dept extension .

Is your HUB accepting email directly from internet or are you going through Edge or SPAM provider? 1. Create Authoratative Accepted domains for each new domain http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124423(EXCHG.80).aspx 2. Create an Email Addres Policy for each domain and filter on the OU: http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/management-administration/managing-email-address-policies.html You do not have to create different mailbox databases if you don't have to, but maybe it is best for logical separation. 3. Create external MX records for the new domains and point to your Exchange server 4. Create receive connector to accept email (probably already done since you are receiving mail currently from internet)Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

Creating the additional email addresses isn't much of a problem. As already indicated above you just add the domains to Accepted Domains and the Email Address Policy. The WINDOWS domain has nothing to do with the email domain. However the problem is going to be outbound email. While a user can have as many email addresses as they like, all users can only have one email address for outbound email. Therefore you need to decide how you are going work with email addresses.
