How to calculate volume of emails sent and received out of an Exchange server?
I want to calculate number of mails sent and received by an exchange server and also their size. When I looked for SMTP logs, I found entry for every recipient for all of the mails, where sender and recipients are on the same server. I do not want to calculate this info. Though I can filter it out using Event IDs, there are so many events generated for a single mail and for every recipient. If the mail is targeted for multiple clients, where the those mailboxes are in same server and some in remote server, it becomes more difficult as there would be entry for every recipients for the same email. Can someone explain me how can it be done using LogParser. Qurey2: If the mails is sent to multiple recipients whose mailboxes are in remote server, there would be entry of 1031(SMTP outbound transfer) for each recipient. Does it mean Exchange would generate and send number of copies equal to number of recipients?Jayasimha Puppala

Here is a nice article: http://anewmessagehasarrived.blogspot.com/2008/03/exchange-2003-statistics-with-logparser.html You can alsoe use Quest Messaging Stats, but you have to pay for it. thanks ThiyaguThiyagu | MCTS/MCITP - Exchange 2007 | MCSE 2003[Messaging] | http://www.myExchangeWorld.com.
