I am an IT student and was given the task of "Create a second GAL with the Organization name of Slytherin and add the following users" and I can find out how to accomplish this task. sorry im new to tech net how do I post a screenshot? Instead of screen shot easies way is to 1. First clear the shell using cls command 2. Run your command to see the GAL filter 3. Goto top-left corner of shell and left click, select edit->Select all 4. Once all text selected in Shell, press Enter, and now you have all contents copied 5. Paste the content in some text file and now only copy the filter and paster here. Also read this forum post to have an idea of how to add recipients to AL/GAL http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/1f57c456-7a68-4e5d-ba59-a97acdb7f314 Regards, Laeeq Qazi|Team Lead(Exchange + Sharepoint + BES + DynamicsCRM) www.HostingController.com

Hi jdoertel, All users information are stored on AD. Exchange GAL does not contain any users' information. It just queries the users from AD based on filter rules. Hope you already knew this. How to add a second GAL, please refer the following steps: ====================== In Exchange 2003: 1. Open Exchange System Manager, Expand to Recipients. 2. Right click All Global Address Lists and choose New->Global Address List. 3. Under 'Address List name', input Slytherin. 4. Click Filter Rules, in Advanced tab, click 'Field', select 'Department'. Under 'Condition', select is(exactly), under 'Value', input Slytherin. 5. Click Find Now, then every user who has value 'Slytherin' in the his Department attribute will be listed. 6. Click Ok to create the GAL. In Exchange 2007: 1. Open Exchange Management console, Expand to Organization Configuration->Mailbox. 2. Right click Mailbox and choose new Address lit. Follow the instruction to create a address list.
