How to add second domain controller to be available for exchange server
Hi, we have 2 domain controllers in our small domain, but in exchange server properties I only see one domain controller "srv1" being used by exchange server. How would I add second domain controller "srv2" to be available for exchange server? googled a little and this is as far as I got: Log Name: Application Source: MSExchange ADAccess Date: 4/1/2009 12:04:35 PM Event ID: 2080 Task Category: Topology Level: Information Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: mail Description: Process MSEXCHANGEADTOPOLOGYSERVICE.EXE (PID=1992). Exchange Active Directory Provider has discovered the following servers with the following characteristics: (Server name | Roles | Enabled | Reachability | Synchronized | GC capable | PDC | SACL right | Critical Data | Netlogon | OS Version) In-site: srv1 CDG 1 7 7 1 0 1 1 7 1 srv2 CDG 1 7 7 1 0 1 1 0 1 Out-of-site: I can see only difference is that netlogon value is "0" instead of "7" how do I change/fix this?

Two thingss... ~ Have you rebooted new DC/GC once it is fully replicated and updated? ~ Check the firewall settings between Exchange and DC/GC, you need to enable required ports for NetLogon service as per below article. Hi,Are you sure your 2nd domain controller has installed and activated correctly? In other words, are you sure it's seen as a valid domain controller by the existing domain controller? If there is no issue, pleaseverify whether "Exchange Enterprise Servers"was listed in the below settings:Please click Start, input gpedit.msc in the new DC, expand Computer Configuration->Windows Settings->Security Settings -> Local Policies -> User Rights Assignment -> Manage Auditing and Security Log, double click it, what user was listed in that interface. If no "Exchange Enterprise Servers", please add it.After that, please restart System Attendant and check this issue.ThanksAllen

During installation I did not receive any errors or warnings. Second domain controller is listed in AD "Domain Controllers" OU, in its porperties I see "DC Type: Global Catalog" Don't know how else to check if it is seen as valid domain controller by the existing domain controller. I see the following users in the new DC: Administrators Domain Admins Exchange Servers Exchange Enterprise Servers screenshot: http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh30/complexxL9/newdcscreens.jpg

1. Run dcdiag /test:advertising on SRV2.... 2. May be time not synchronised between domain controllers? 3. Read this, example 3: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc758753.aspx
