How to add an new AD user to existing exchange org ?
We have a AD (i.e. AD_A) and Exchange server in AD_A. AD_A's domain level is Windows 2003, and ExchangeServer is 2007SP1 This AD_A is placed under the forest top domain. ( I mean AD_A is a member of childs) We would like to create an new AD (AD_B) in same level as AD_A. AD_B is Windows Server 2008. AD_B is created for new company, so AD_B user will use another e-mail domain. And we would like to configure Excahnge below: -AD_B's user uses AD_A's exchange server. I think I need to prepare domain for AD_B. Use domainprep function. After prepare domain, what should I do for using Exchange from AD_B ? And how to setup another e-mail domain for AD_B users ? Thanks for your help.

Hi , Per my known, if you are deploying a new Exchange organization, and you are preparing your Active Directory schema and domain(s) by using a computer running Windows Server 2008, you must first install the Active Directory Domain Services remote management tools on Windows Server 2008 prior to preparing the schema or a domain by using the command. So, if you just do the domainprep on the DC sever, I think you do not need run the command. Regards! Gavin

Thank you Gavin. I need to updatemy requirement. Regarding my first post, The Domain_B was Windows 2008. But Our company did not allow to use 2008. So I need to re-consider by Windows Server 2003 R2. Actually, your understanding is correct. >>deploying a new Exchange organization, and you are preparing your Active Directory schema and domain(s) by using a computer running Windows ... According to MS document, There are some pre-condition. Is it needed for DC ? - .net framework 2.0 SP1 - Power Shell - MMC 3.0 But I do not know these components are necessary or not. Could you let me know what task is exactly needed in my case (for Windows 2003 R2 based domain) ? Thank you for your grate support.

Hi, If you are using Windows 2003 box for installing Exchange than you must install these three components install on your Windows 2003 Server. If you are using Windows 2008 Server than these components will be installed from server manager which is built-in in Windows Server 2008. Also you need to install these on that system which you are using for Exchange it means you dont have to install them on your AD. I hope this will help you. Regards. Hi, Per my known, before you prepare Active Directory and your domain for Exchange 2007, the computer on which you perform this procedure has the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and the Microsoft Command Shell installed. That is, if you do not need install the management tool, you do not need install the MMC 3.0. Please refer to below: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125224(EXCHG.80).aspx Also note that, if you use the windows 2003 server as the DC, you must have at least one DC's OS windows sp1 or later. You could refer to below: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719(EXCHG.80).aspx Regards! Gavin
