How to add an Inter Email Address in Exchange 2007??
I've just deployed Exchange 2007 as part of Microsoft Essential Business Server and would like to add an internal email address for all users. Since I had SBS 2003 server previously with "mycompany.local" domain, all emails sent internally used user@mydomain.local.Since there are so many emails, users will simply reply on previous emails. Then these will be failed to deliver. So, I decided to add an internal email address for all users but can't make it work. Here is what I have done.I added "mycompany.local" domain in the Hub Transport server as an Authoritative Domain, but emails to user@mydomain.local still failes to be delivered. Please advise me what can be done to make it work. Thanks for any comments.Kucheong

Hello,Yes, I think I made it work as I could send email to myname@mycompany.local.However the problem is that, I can't reply to any emails I got previously from the old SBS server with MyCompany.local domain although I added MyName@MyCompany.Local in my email address list. When I replied on an old email I got the following error message and it was failed.=============================================================================================The recipient's e-mail address was not found in the recipient's e-mail system. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please check the e-mail address and try resending this message, or provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator.=============================================================================================For your information, MyCompany.local was the domain name.Looks like Exchange server looked for the domain and the mail server not just email address. Please advise me what can be done to make it work. _____ Sent by Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Diagnostic information for administrators: Generating server: Exch1.MyCompany.COM IMCEAEX-_O=MyComp_OU=FIRST+20ADMINISTRATIVE+20GROUP_CN=RECIPIENTS_CN=User@MyCompany.COM#550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.ExRecipNotFound; not found ## Original message headers: Received: from Exch1.MyCompany.COM([192.168.10.21]) by Exch1.MyCompany.COM ([192.168.10.21]) with mapi; Sat, 2 Jan 2010 21:53:00 -0800Content-Type: application/ms-tnef; name="winmail.dat"Content-Transfer-Encoding: binaryFrom: My Name <MyName@MyCompany.com>To: 'His Name' <IMCEAEX-_O=MyComp_OU=FIRST+20ADMINISTRATIVE+20GROUP_CN=RECIPIENTS_CN=HisName@MyCompany.com>Date: Sat, 2 Jan 2010 21:52:59 -0800Subject: RE: Dinner!!!!!Thread-Topic: Dinner!!!!!Thread-Index: Acp4Oqek6mxWa11OR2yF6tw3QQF3IAAADLKwBP+F/ZA=Message-ID: <6581FBB55BBD0942B253D52CA8A1B9838A9BD84B67@Exch1.MyCompany.com>References: <9A0AECAB293B7B468EE7FD16F436438801B0C5A3@sbs01.MyCompany.local> <9A0AECAB293B7B468EE7FD16F436438810419C@sbs01.MyCompany.local> <9A0AECAB293B7B468EE7FD16F436438801B0C6F9@sbs01.MyCompany.local>,<9A0AECAB293B7B468EE7FD16F436438801B0C7F3@sbs01.MyCompany.local> <BLU140-W220CE30C93105E4EDF49579B8F0@phx.gbl> <9A0AECAB293B7B468EE7FD16F436438801B0C81C@sbs01.MyCompany.local>In-Reply-To: <9A0AECAB293B7B468EE7FD16F436438801B0C81C@sbs01.MyCompany.local>Accept-Language: en-US, en-CAContent-Language: en-USX-MS-Has-Attach:X-MS-TNEF-Correlator: <6581FBB55BBD0942B253D52CA8A1B9838A9BD84B67@Exch1.MyCompany.com>MIME-Version: 1.0Kucheong

Hi,That is because Outlook uses the legacyexchangedn attribute when sending messages. If you can find the old value of this for the users you can add this value as an X500 address on the user objects.Leif

Here are two good sources:Understanding the LegacyExchangeDNhttp://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Understanding-LegacyExchangeDN.html For an even more thorough explanation, read this in Tony Redmond's Exchange 2007 / SP1 book:http://books.google.com/books?id=W3hhKK7rKnYC&pg=PT113&lpg=PT113&dq=legacyexchangedn+Tony+REdmond&source=bl&ots=6Iy_qwUE-4&sig=g0CY2Ie9wvxtym7NmxgDnqH7FAA&hl=no&ei=_QBCS9-mBMnw-Qbwku2uCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CAgQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=legacyexchangedn%20Tony%20REdmond&f=falseMCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M | Small Business Specialist
