How to Connect your PC Local Drive Option in OWA 2007
Hello. In OWA 2003, we had the option when making a connection to our remote pc where as you can connect your local drives (checkbox). In OWA 2007, there doesn't seem to bethis option except allowing a clipboard and printer option. How do we proceed in OWA Remote 2007 to connect a local pc drive in order to gain access to our local files and network files? Thanks,Stephane

I did more research on this subject.I notice that under the Remote Desktop Connection for Windows, they have something similiar under Options->Local Resources->More->Drives.Perhaps there is some trigger (disable) or checkbox underExchange 2007 or OWAthat I'm not aware of thatwould enable us here to gain access to our drives through OWA? I also noticed that they have this new document feature under OWA where as you can share your network /sharepoint files. Though, it appears that I can send/copy a file to my local drive, but I can't seem to find the option to copya file back from my local drive to my network drive.Am I missing something here? Thanks,Stephane

HI,I think you are talking about OWA direct file access feature of Exchange 2007.You cannot upload any files or folders to remote location from your pc and this feature can use only for open some document at office pc from remote locations. I have mentioned below articles for your reference.ResourcesDrilldown of the new OWA Direct File Access Feature in Exchange Server 2007 How to Manage Public and Private Computer File AccessRegards Chinthaka Shameera | MCITP: EA | MCSE: M | http://howtoexchange.wordpress.com/

Hi Chinthaka.Thank you for your response.Ok - so direct file access is a one route type of deal with limited file type access.Though, what ever happened to the RWW option (feature) of being able to select a checkbox to connect to your local resources?Myusers areconfused that wewere able to use RWW via OWA (version 2003) to choose to connect to their local resources (drives) - now it is no longer available except being able to connect to the clipboard and printers option...Can you explain to us how we should proceed instead? Thanks,Stephane

HI , I have found related thread and i have mentioned below for your reference. Quote:- Yes, as you can see in the RWW the RDP client 6.0 (6.1) active X doesn't contain the option to redirect the local drives. However, please note that in the SBS 2008 TS gateway feature is used in the RWW for connection to the client desktop. In the other word, to connect the internal clients desktop you can also use MSTSC directly besides the RWW web page. In the RDP client 6.0 (6.1) , you can set the TS gateway in the Advanced tab--->Connect from anywhere and then select the option to redirect the local drives. More related information for your reference: Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal Services Client 6.0)---> TS Gatewayservers This Exchange server related forum. Please post SBS issues in SBS newsgroup to get more accurate answer.
