How do you set the PublicFolderDatabase for OAB?
Hello, Last night we moved our OAB generation process from an Exchange 2003 Server to an Exchange 2007 Mailbox Server. After doing so, we are getting errors while generating Version 3a of the OAB (error below). When I run the "Get-OfflineAddressBook -Identity "Default Offline Address list" | fl" cmdlet, I see that the server listed under the PublicFolderDatabase attribute is the old Exchange 2003 Public Folder Server still. I thought I would be able to use the "Set-OfflineAddressBook" cmdlet to reconfigure the PublicFolderDatabase attribute to a Public Folder DB on a Exchange 2007 Server. Problem is that the "PublicFolderDatabase" attribute is not something you can set (at least with the "Set-OfflineAddressBook" cmdlet). Anyone know how to set the PublicFolderDatabase attribute? Thanks in advance! ---/--- Event Type:WarningEvent Source:MSExchangeSAEvent Category:OAL Generator Event ID:9386Date:11/30/2009Time:11:28:11 AMUser:N/AComputer:<MAILBOX_SERVER>Description:OALGen is configured to generate version 2 or version 3 OAB files for offline address book '<DN_OF_OAB>' but there is no public folder server available. OAB versions prior to version 4 require a public folder server and cannot be generated at this time. Please ensure that a public folder server with a replica of the Offline Address Book system folder is online and mounted, or disable all OAB versions other than version 4. I am experiencing the exact same issues as Corey. I had previously found the document referenced as the resolution for this issue. After walking through the procedure, I noticed a "not set" value for the HomeMDB attribute. After setting this to the appropriate public folder, I am still seeing the same behavior. If you run a get-offlineaddressbook, for the PublicFolderDatabase attribute, the old Exchange 2003 public folder store is still listed. After updating the address book, I also receive the same event log warnings. I also receive event 9399Log Name: ApplicationSource: MSExchangeSADate: 2/9/2010 11:24:50 AMEvent ID: 9399Task Category: OAL GeneratorLevel: WarningKeywords: ClassicUser: N/AComputer: FQDN.comDescription:OALGen is configured to generate version 4 offline address book (OAB) files for OAB '/o=****/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address List' and publish the version 4 files to public folders, but there is no public folder server available. OAB version 4 will be generated, but will not be published to a public folder at this time. Please ensure that a public folder server with a replica of the OAB system folder is online and mounted, or disable publishing OAB version 4 to public folders.Any other suggestions?

In the end, our fix ended up being really simple. Creating a private information store on the Public Folder server cleared up the errors.
