How do you delete an item in public folders?
We are running a Stand-alone Exchange 2007 server (service Pack 1) recently migrated from Exchange 2003. The exchange 2003 server died (a horrible death) but before it did, we managed to replicate (or at least we think we did) all of the public folders from the Exchange 2003 to the Exchange 2007. Mail flow is fine and all users can access the public folders via Outlook 2007 or 2003. One of the folders cannot be accessed nor deleted (option grayed out). According to GFI (Mail Essentials), who generated this folder for spam filtering, this folder must be deleted so that their program will generate another. In prep for that: We ran Get-Publicfolderstatistics, and got the following error message WARNING: Object 000000001A447390AA6611CD9BC800AA002FC45A03002ABBAEE83BD1EC47A5346C66D76C5499000 012E4AE8B0000 has been corrupted and it is in an inconsistent state. The following validation errors have occurred: WARNING: The Name property contains leading or trailing whitespace, which must be removed. Any idea what this means and would it have anything to do with the folder that we are trying to delete. It also showed valid folders as well but in did not show the GFI folder in question, just the folder contentsWe are stuck at this point. How do you delete an item (folder) in public folders? Thank you

Well, it means that that object has invalid data in the Name.Look at PFDAVAdminhttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=635BE792-D8AD-49E3-ADA4-E2422C0AB424&displaylang=enKarl

Also take a look at below thread which might help you at later stage after finding which property is containing leading or trailing whitespace.... http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrmigration/thread/d4f499fe-8c1a-4acb-906b-67c47dd63810Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

I have tried all listed suggestions and nothing seems to work. In fact, the PFDAVAdmin tool indicates that it is still replicated with the server that is no longer in production. Is therea way to just delete this folder and all sub-directories? I don't have an issue with any other items in the Public Folders. Thanks

Hi, Regarding the error The Name property contains leading or trailing whitespace, I would like to double check whether you have attempted the steps provided by Amit Tank. For your reference, I have provided related command below: To remove the trailing white space, please run following command: To Run against one public folder: get-publicfolder -identity "Public Folder Path" | Set-publicfolder -Identity $_.Identity -Name $_.Name.Trim() To run against all the Public Folders: get-publicfolder -identity "\" -Recurse -ResultSize Unlimited | Foreach {Set-publicfolder -Identity $_.Identity -Name $_.Name.Trim()} Mike Shen TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

Using Microsofts fee based support, the issue was resolved by simplygoing tothe public folder in Exchange Management Console -> Toolbox -> Public Folder Management Console?I was able todelete it from there?
