Create a mailbox with the resource name you want. Log onto the mailbox with outlookand share the calandar with the permissions you want to give it or use a tool that lets you do this. Use the auto accept agent to monitor the mailbox and automatically accept and reply to meeting requests....etc.... Here is a link to the tool. It must be run on the mailbox servers of the resource mailbox you created. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3d0884e6-c603-491d-bf57-acf03e046bfe&DisplayLang=en Install the agent following the guidelines. Edit the config if you like. Add smtp addressesof themailbox or mailboxesto confscript.txt in the install folder and run the following command cscript RegisterMailbox.vbs /F:confscript.txt Hope this helps. I created the calender as a user in AD(example ConferenceRoom1) and have checked it to have the Exchange account created. I then logged into the email account and went to Tools>Options> and cleared box next to Default reminder then clicked on calendar options. Here I went to resource scheduling and selected Auto accept meeting requests and Auto decline conflicts. When I go to my email account and send a meeting request to the new resource it shows up as offline. ???

Did you install and configure the auto accept agent? Outlook can not automatically accept a meeting when it is not logged onto the mailbox. Unless you are going to keep a connected outlook client to the mailbox... then it will not work to set the settings your trying to set. Remember there are client side features and their are server side features. The way you are trying to use outlook is only a client side feature. It only runs when outlook is connected. You need to use the auto accept agent to monitor the mailbox on the server side. The auto accept agent will automatically accept meetings and refuse conflicts. IT will also publish the free/busy schedule out to the specfic set of months configured in the config files. Thanks

I'm a server admin and I'm having trouble making this work correctly. My test was to setup an account called lunchroom to rest room reservations with. Iregistered the mailbox with autoaccept; it look like that worked: C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\Agents\AutoAccept>cscript listmailboxes.vbs /S:exchange Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host Version 5.6Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 1996-2001. All rights reserved. lunchroom@mycompany.com But when I do a status on that mailbox i get this: C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\Agents\AutoAccept>cscript MailboxStatus.vbs /M:lunchroom@mycopany.com/I /DEBUGMicrosoft (R) Windows Script Host Version 5.6Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 1996-2001. All rights reserved. <MailboxStatus> <Summary> <!--address filter = lunchroom@mycompany.comLength = 27--> <CurrentTime>9/7/2007 10:07:36 AM</CurrentTime> <MailboxCount>1</MailboxCount> </Summary> <Mailbox EmailAddress=lunchroom@mycompany.com> <!--Len(sMail) = 27--> <!--searching <GC://mycompany.com>;--> <!--(&(objectClass=user)(mail=lunchroom@mycompany.com));--> <!--<GC://mycompany.com>;(&(objectClass=user)(mail=lunchroom@mycompany.com));msExchHomeServerName,mail,mailNickname;subtree--> <!--1 records found--> <!--Checking registration for lunchroom@mycompany.com--> <!--url = http://EXCHANGE/exchange/lunchroom/--> <!--403 Forbidden--> <!--DAVGet returned empty url for inbox--> <Server>EXCHANGE</Server> <RegistrationStatus>2</RegistrationStatus> <RegistrationTime></RegistrationTime> </Mailbox></MailboxStatus> My automated resource booking is not working either, so I suspect this is related. Not sure where to go from here. Any ideas?

I don't believe it is correct someone has to stay logged into Outlook for this to work. Once you login to the account, go into Outlook and say to Auto Accept meeting invitations, the setting is saved server side.

I have a resource such as this a department wants me to create. I'll create a new user with the name of the conference room, and then I'll login as the user once and configure the account to auto accept meeting requests. Next I'll work on sharing out the calendar. My problem is they want 30 out of about 400 people to have access to make appointments in this calendar. Will Exchange 2003 allow people to add groups rather than just individual people? I was wondering if this will work if I create a security group and give it an email address so it will show up when I'm granting access to the calendar. I say this because you right click on the calendar and then you can go to the Address Book to grant access to the calendar, so I'm wondering if it will work if I add a security group that shows up in the Address Book.

Yes, create a mail enabled security group. It needs to be mail enabled to have a security descripter to map back to mapi permission in the form of ptagntsd.James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com
