How do you add an additional user to Query-Based Distribution Group?
We have a domain user in another city and OU (same domain) that wants to be added to our Query-Based Distribution Group. Since he is a member of a different OU, is there a way to add him to our Query-Based Distribution Group? I have not seen a diffinitive way to do this. The Query-Based Distribution Groups are Allcity1 and Allcity2. He belongs to Allcity2, but wants to be included in Allcity1 as well. Server 2003 and Exchange 2003. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. DDaleS

on your QBDL for Allcity1, I would explicitly also include the user that want to be in Allcity1. So you should use the AND logic, i.e & to include the userSukh

Thanks for the feedback Sukh. If I go to the Query-Based Distribution Group properties->General->Customize->Advanced->Condition List-> this is what is entered. Office Location... Is (exactly) Cityname For Field, I choose User->Email Address. There is no Condition drop down option for AND. Is this where you meant to do the AND. Thanks.DDaleS

(|(&(objectClass=user)(l=london))(|(sAMAccountName=tuser))) Something like the above, this is assuming all your user accounts in that OU (which I assume you have for each office) is set on the user account under City attribute in ADUC and set to london in this example. The last part specifies the additional user by specifying his sAMaccountname. When you build your QBDL then set the filter to apply at the parent OU, where the office OU's are child OU's of the parent. Then click on on customise filter and create a customer search and speiciy the above.Sukh

DDaleS Hi, You are in the correct direction. Why not use such condition list for Allcity1? 1. City… is not …city2 OR 2. Alias… is (exactly)…additional user Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I have the initial search for Exchange Recipients. When I go back and select Custom Search, put in my criteria, and apply, the Exchange Recipients then gets unchecked. So can have one or the other, but still not able to do both. I tried putting everthing in the Custom Search, but that comes up blank when I Preview. I am missing a step somewhere. Any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks much. DDaleS
