How do admins manage users in Exchange 2010 without 32-bit version of the EMC?
Our organization is large (over 110,000 objects) and we have many admins nationwide that manage users. Currently in our 2007 deployment they use EMC on the workstation that is customized to their OU so they only see the users they can manage? We are in the early stages of planning for 2010. How do admins manage users in Exchange 2010 without 32-bit version of the EMC? We do not want the admins who have less rights in Exchange than we do logging into the Exchange Servers to use the EMC.

Exactly the same, you use the 64bit client installed on their workstation.James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

Another option is to build a virtual "tools" server. Install the MGMT tools there and allow users to logon to that. Easy to maintain and keep up to date.

We do not have 64 bit workstations. I would bring up or use an existing "utility server" then and ask your admins to logon onto that to do their Exchange tasks.

We do not have 64 bit workstations. Hi David, I'm afraid you can only install Exchange 2010 Management Tool on 64bit workstations: For more information, please see: Exchange 2010 System Requirements http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719.aspx More information: Is there a 32-bit version of Exchange 2010? http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2009/05/19/3407510.aspx Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help. I think you should consider two scenarios - Remote Desktop server with Exchange management installed for helpdesk/recipient management users, second - with power shell remoting - they can manage mailoxes from powershell directly or you can prepare for them specific GUI - Glen Scales presented exapmple on his blog - http://gsexdev.blogspot.com/2010/07/multi-user-quick-create-powershell-form.html Regards, Konrad Sagala, MCT, MCSE+M, MCITP: Exchange 2007/2010

Hi there, I had a customer with this same problem, none of the workstations were 64bit capable. The resolution was to create some 64bit Management Servers and then via RBAC configure roles for their HelpDesk and Admins. I would also check your admins workstations, processors have been 64bit capable for at least 4 years. You may find many are and then just need a 64bit OS installed. A less user-friendly solution would be to use Remote PowerShell to manage the Exchange servers: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd297932.aspx
