I had a windows update fail recently and ever since then I can't use WORD because a windows security pop-up asking for my credentials for connecting to proxy server for office15client.microsoft.com comes up. I can't remember my credentials and have looked at credential manager and cleared them from there and tried typing in my usual credentials but have had no luck.

Please go to Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Credential Manager -> Windows Credentials, remove the credentials for Microsoft Office,then try to type in the new password and test if the issue persists.

If this issue still exists, please try the following method:

Modify the registry entry.

The dword to add with a zero value is below

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Internet\useOnlineContent
