How do I move the System Attendant mailbox to another database in Exchange 2007?
The System Attendant mailbox on one of our Exchange 2007 mailbox servers (running in a Single Copy Cluster on Windows Server 2003) appears with a StorageLimitStatus of "MailboxDisabled" when I issue the command "Get-MailboxStatistics -Server mailboxserver | where {$_.StorageLimitStatus -eq "MailboxDisabled"}. While we're not seeing any obvious problems from our the perspective of our end users, this doesn't seem like a desirable condition long-term - and it looks like this condition is causing some alerts to be generated by our recently installed SCOM implementation. Having had to do this for a PSS case a while back (SRZ070820000310), I think I know the steps involved with moving the SA mailbox from one database to another so that it gets re-created - and cleared out/re-enabled in the process. However, I can't come up with the exact notes on it and searching only produces steps for Exchange 2003 so I'm posting this and asking for confirmation of the process for Exchange 2007. Note that I do not need or want to remove the mailbox database where the SA mailbox currently resides - I just want to move the SA mailbox to another location. Should the process below do the trick? Thanks. *Proposed* Process to Manually Move the System Attendant Mailbox to another store in Exchange 2007 1) Open adsiedit.msc2) Connect to the configuration context (Question: Does it matter what DC I connect to?)3) Navigate to Configuration > Services > Microsoft Exchange > Organization Name > Administrative Groups > Exchange 2007 Administrative Group > Servers > Server Name > Microsoft System Attendant4) Right click on the "Microsoft System Attendant" object and choose properties5) Choose "HomeMDB" and click edit6) Change the CN of the mailbox database to the one you wish to move the System Attendant onto. You can use the EMS command "Get-MailboxDatabase mailboxdatabase | fl DistinguishedName" to determine the value to enter.7) Click ok and exit adsiedit8) Restart the System Attendant service on the mailbox server.

The step you mentioned is right.Check the following steps, you will find it easier and also have a look on the note after completing all the steps.1. Open up adsiedit.msc 2. Connect to the CN=configuration [<FQDN of server name>] 3. Navigate to CN=Services / CN=Microsoft Exchange / CN=<Organisation Name> / CN=Administrative Groups /CN=<Administrative Group> / CN=Servers / CN=<Server Name> / CN=Microsoft System Attendant 4. Right click on the "Microsoft System Attendant" object and choose properties 5. Choose "HomeMDB" in the attributes list and click edit 6. Navigate to CN=Services / CN=Microsoft Exchange / CN=<Organisation Name> / CN=Administrative Groups /CN=<Administrative Group> / CN=Servers / CN=<Server Name>/CN=InformationStore/CN=<storage group name>/CN=<mailbox store name> 7. Right click on the "Mailbox store" object and choose properties 8. Copy the value in the attribute “distinguishedName”. 9. Paste the value in the “HomeMDB” attribute of the “Microsoft System Attendant” object 10. Click ok and exit adsiedit 11. Restart the System Attendant service Note: However, If you still have some issues in SA mailbox then you need to send a mail to System Attendant mailbox from your mailbox with delivery receipt and make sure that you receive delivery receipt back which creates SA mailbox in new database. Email address of System Attendant is SERVERNAME-SA@DomainName.com ThanksVinod
