How do I delete a database that will not mount?
Hello, We had a major failure on our raid array and the mail databases are corrupt, we do not have a backup :( Any way not a major issue as it is only four accounts and we all have offline copies of our mail in OST files. So get us backup I deleted each users exchange account and recreated against a new DB that will mount. I now won't to remove the old databases and fixup the public folder DB but I can't mount the databases or recover them (hard or soft) as the files are corrupt. Any way in which I can hack them out of exchange and manually delete from the disk? Thanks, Rob.

You can use Dial Tone functionality in Exchange, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd979810.aspx If the corrupt/missing database is the first one, then it contains some special account which you dont want to loose. I suggest you remove the corrupt edb file from disk (the one that match unmountable DB) and then simply mount this DB. Exchange will then ask you about creating a blank new DB file. With this, all special mailboxes will still be around and you can simply move user mailboxes back to this DB if you like. lasse at humandata dot se, http://anewmessagehasarrived.blogspot.com
