How do I change IP Address of Exchange 2003 Front End Server
Hi All,How do I change IP Address of Exchange 2003 Front End Server.If possible share the MS KB for the same.Thanks in Advance.Abhishek

Well, you will change the IP address. The thing to consider however is OWA access, mail routing, user access etc. If you change the IP Address of the Exchange server you have to remember to change all the DNS records including MX, Hosts, Alias Records.BP

Hi, The IP addresses can be changed safely if the servers are not clustered. As BP mentioned, DNS records need to be updated with the new IP Address information. Please ensure this Exchange server is not a domain controller or a global catalog. If this is a domain controller or a global catalog, usually it is not recommended to change the IP address since we would hassle to manually change all SRV records in DNS. If this is also an Exchange mail server, please check if there are any other Exchange server/SMTP server which configured the IP address of this server as the smart host server. If thats the case, we need to change the smart host IP on other Exchange servers. Thanks, Elvis
