Using the Management Console goto Server Configuration > Mailbox Right-click on First Storage Group and select Move Storage Group Path This will move the log files and update the system path. Right-click on Mailbox Database and choose Move Database Path This will move the database files. Perform the same steps for the Second Storage Group and the Public Folder Database.

Could I remove it online?

Hello, Nope. You can’t do online move. Users may have poor experience during database moving process. Online move mailbox feature is mart of the exchange 2010. Regards Chinthaka Shameera | MCITP: EA | MCSE: M | http://howtoexchange.wordpress.com/

Hi, I have a similar problem. On my exchange server, I added a second raid array, (1TB) created a second DB on the new drive and moved a handful of my heaviest mail users to this new DB. After moving them, I noticed that the available disc space on the original disc dropped an amount equal to the size of the mail boxes moved. I would like to move the entire storage group to the new disc but, I am concerned about moving it after already creating the new DB on this drive. Will I have any issues?

Do you have to dismount the databases first before moving?

DO NOT do the above steps if you're doing any type of continuous replication. What Jeff said works fine in non-HA environments. In HA environments you need to use different steps to not mess up replication. Refer to the following if you need to move these in HA environments: Exchange 2007 CCR Moving Storage Group: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996391%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx Exchange 2007 CCR Moving Database: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997646%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx Exchange 2010 DAG Moving Database: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd979782.aspxMVP | MCSE:M | MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator | MCTS: OCS + Voice Specialization | http://www.shudnow.net

Yes , it is very easy in exchange 2007 as its database support portability feature.Just copy and paste the database with all logs But be assure database should be in clean state because after moving it from original location it would be converted in dirty state, so use eseutil parameter and make it clean shutdown and again attach it . I have done it in testing environment with 80 gb database. it is still working fine. Thanks Amit Rawat

HI , we have a SCC of exchange 2007 with 2 nodes. As we have experienced error with SAN so decided to install another Mailbox role server .concurrently we are backing up from Storage groups . Afterwards I want to move the storage groups from SCC to this mailbox server which is standalone . Is there any configuration that I should do to transfer the storage groups other than changing the path in exchange console ? Thanks for all advice from my professional friends in advance "************************************* I have another question My scc name currently is "mail1" , after the change my new mailbox server will be "mail2" . My question is that I can only change the path of Storage group in EMC but how can I change the server name in EMC as it is grayed out ? thanks for your kind cooperation into my issue
