I am regular user of Outlook using since last four to five year. Now I am facing problems during loading and sending items. I was thinking to split large PST files to avoid corruption and to improve performance. Can anybody suggest me better way to do that ? Can I split and save PST data as PDF ?

Large .pst files are not likely related to send/receive issues, if that's what you are encountering.  Regardless, if you want to archive your data into another .pst file, then simply create a new one from the Account Settings -> Data Files dialog.  It will appear in your Folder list, and you can copy or move folders from your original .pst into it.

If you want to improve Outlook performance then it will be better choice to you to reduce Outlook PST file size. The simplest way is just to do as follows:

1. Create several PST files in Outlook.

2. Copy some data from your original PST file to the new created PST files.

To make everything clear, I just create PST files for several large subfolders in my original PST files, then move the contents of these subfolders to the new PST files, then compact the original PST file to reduce its size.

There is no Automated tool as such in Outlook to split the PST files, We have to split PST by moving data manually. We can delete unwanted items from the various .pst files, and then compact the files to make them smaller.

Additionally, you can create new .pst files to complete splitting your large .pst file into several smaller .pst files. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Create a new .pst files: Home>New Items>More Items>Outlook data file.
2. Browse to the location where the file is to be located and type the File name, click OK.
3. Create new folders in the new .pst file.
4. In the folder that contains the items that you want to move to a new .pst file, click one or more items to move.
5. Move itsms: Home>Move>Other folder, then select the new folder.

You can split PST files by archiving current oversized PST file to new PST.

You need to create new PST file first and then you can use Archive option from File menu in outlook to mail from oversize PST to this new PST file..

You can use option "archive items older than" to shift mails from oversize PST to new PST by year wise or month wise.

Microsoft Outlook 2007 does not have inbuilt option to split .PST file. Therefore, you can use one of the following methods to split a large .PST file.

1. Split PST file using Archive Feature: -

• Open Microsft Outlook 2007 and Select your PST file
• In File menu, click on Archive.
• In the Archive dialog box, check the Archive this folder and all subfolders and then select a folder from the list.
• In the Archive items older than drop down box, click a date.
• Click on Browse and give a path or name for a new PST file. After that click on OK.

1. Split large PST file using Move to Folder Feature: -

• In File menu, select New, and then click Outlook Data File.
• In New Outlook Data File dialog box, click on Office Outlook Personal Folder File (.pst), and then click OK.
• Select a path and name for a new PST File.
• In the Create Microsoft Personal Folders dialog box, give the display name of PST file in the Name box, because outlook uses this name in the Mail Folder list.
• Go to the folder containing items to be moved to the new PST file, and then click one or more items to move.
• In the Edit menu, click on Move to Folder.
• Click on New in Move Items dialog box.
