How can I select and delete multiple emails in OWA on my Android phone?

I have the new Outlook Web Access installed on my Android phone. Unlike the desktop version, there is no obvious checkbox to select multiple messages for deletion. I get a lot of junk email in this account and can tell from the brief subject line what is junk.  On the desktop version of Outlook I can quickly select all of these junk emails and delete them easily, but on my Android OWA app, I don't see any way to delete them without opening each email first - and that sorta defeats the whole idea of deleting junk email. If the spammers can force readers to open their emails, they have WON and who knows what junk they might install on your phone if you click to open a junk email.

If MS hasn't developed this option for their OWA Android app, they need to right away. If that capability exists, I need to know how to do it.

Hi Joef,

Try opening OWA using the mobile web browser.

Get the url from Outlook File->Account Settings
Access this account on the web
https://mail.contoso.com/owa

Use the Light version.

This should give you option to select and delete multiple items.

It appears that the ActiveSync account installed on your phone is not allowing you to select multiple items at a time.

Also try if below works on ActiveSync:

  • If you long-press on an email, it selects that email without opening it. Then if you click another email, it also selects that. Now, you have two selected emails. You can then click the delete button to delete both emails.
  • Tap on the Contact icon or colored letter according to the Starting Letter of your mail Sender and select multiple mails that you want to delete it!

Long press does not work

There is no icon or colored letter on the emails to press. If I touch anywhere on the email header it opens it.

The   https://mail.contoso.com/owa link said "webpage not available (down or moved)

I don't know where to find the "light version"  I downloaded the only version I found in the Android Playstore.

I think this is a serious flaw in the OWA Android app - enough to make users like me want to switch to another email client like Gmail.
