To disable the auto-archive function in Outlook 2003: Use a registry editing tool to navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Preferences Insert or change a value with the following details: Data Type: DWORDValue Name: DoAgingValue: 0 Restart Outlook for the changes to take effect You can also do this with Group Policy settings with the Office ADM Templates Deli

To disable users from using auto archive Use the Office OL 2003 template. In this template Tools, Options, Other, Auto Archive off Apply this to all your workstation Group Policy objects. This setting removes the auto archive completely from OL2003 Hope this helps

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Preferences I've seen this before, and is useful for the Current User. But is there a way of simple way of turning it off for all Outlook profiles, for all users on a computer? (Outlook 2007)

That would do it. Current user is all you need. When someone else logs on they become current user and get the affecting changes. There's no point to doing something like this in HKLM. Just tested this, and doesn't appeared to work. Installed Vista on a PC, scripted the registry change above, and it was inserted into the Current User section of the registry for the Local Admin account. I then logged in as another user and opened Outlook and created a Profile, but I was given the default settings - i.e. Autoarchiving was turned ON. Any thoughts on how this could be resolved? I guess the only other option is to use the Office 2007 Customization Tool and create a .MSP file?

Does anyone know if there is a way of turning-off Autoarchiving for all Outlook profiles, for all users on a computer - including future users who have not yet logged onto the computer?

You didn't say what verison of Outlook. You can control many Outlook settings with group policy. Here's one link that applies to Outlook 2007: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179124(office.12).aspx -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . Hi Ed, In my first post in this thread, I specified that I was referring to Outlook 2007. Group Policy is one method of doing this, but it is not always the best tool for the job. Group Policy has to apply to a group of machines, typically your Workstations in AD, and this is not what I am looking for. To do the same job, I could also use our Login Script to apply the registry changes, mentioned above, to all users. Some of my current users are using Autoarchive. We are gradually migrating them to a new storage solution - but dont want to affect all users in a one go. However, for all new workstations I setup, I want to have some means of "turning-off Autoarchiving for all Outlook profiles, for all users on a computer - including future users who have not yet logged onto the computer". Still searching and testing, but just cannot seem to find the means of doing this.

You can make it as part of there log on I've tested these and they work successfully Outlook 2003 %windir%\system32\reg.exe add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Preferences" /v "DoAging" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f Outlook 2007 %windir%\system32\reg.exe add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Preferences" /v "DoAging" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f If you run it after logon, you'll need to close and open Outlook for the change to apply.
