How can I deny access to all (non-system) Public Folders in Ex2003 please?
Hello, In Exchange 2003, I need to deny access to our users to the contents of ten top-level Public Folders as part of moving them to another company. The folders contain sub-folders, calendars, etc, with hundreds of individual user permissions. To do that, can I just remove all permissions from the top-level folders' only? Or create a new top-level folder and drag the existing folders into it? If not, can anyone please suggest another approach? Can I easily temporarily deny access to all (non-system) public folders? The point is that until I'm certain that everything is OK in the other company, I don't want to change the permissions on the contents of the folders or delete them. Thanks, - Alan.

I don't have E2003 any more. But I think you could do this by changing the permissions on the PF store in Exchange System Manager, rather than Outlook. If you can find the store in the ESM GUI, you should find a permissions tab. If you add here a Deny for Everyone, I think that will lock everyone out. I think you can also do it with this. I've never used it, but I believe it allows you to propagate permissions into a PF heirarchy: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=22427Outlook Web Access For PDA , OWA For WAP www.owa-pda.com email a@t leederbyshire d.0.t c.0.m

This is easy. In ESM, find the folder then right click on it and choose All Tasks. That will start a wizard. You will need to run it once. 1. To change the client permissions at the top level. 2. To propagate the permissions down. Therefore if it is ten top level folders you will need to run the wizard for each folder. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Ah thanks, that should do it. I'll do a PFDavAdmin export of the permissions as a backup first then use ESM. Pity the export permissions isn't integrated into ESM as well but no big deal. Thanks again.
