How can I delete emails only from one location.
Hi, One of our Outlook users within my organization has the need of deleting emails only from one location. To be specific, he's got two laptops, an android phone an iPad as well as he sometimes uses computers on business centers of different hotels. So what he needs is a way of controling emails only from one location; he's acostumed to deleting emails all on one location and wants to make sure he cannot delet them from different devices. Please help if you have any ideas. Thanks

Is there an Exchange server involved in this question? If all devices work against one mailbox then all his mail is in one location so if he deletes them from one device, it's deleted from the mailbox so the other devices won't see it either. That's how a client-server application works. My autosignature definitely applies in this case. Also, this applies: Patient: "Doctor, it hurts when I do this." Doctor: "Well, don't do that!"Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Yeah, there's an Exchange Server 2010 involved. Maybe I didn't explain myself correctly, the problem is that that when he deletes the email from his other devices it erases it as well from the main location; for some odd reason he wants the emails that he deletes from inbox or sent items on his devices not to be deleted from his inbox.

That's the way it works. Tell him not to do that.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Sounds like he wants two different mailboxes. That's possible, of course, with two logins. But it might be possible to achieve something similar with Outlook rules. Maybe use the 'Move a copy to the specified folder' rule to maintain a 'parallel' inbox, and use that with the devices.Mobile OWA For Smartphone www.leederbyshire.com email a@t leederbyshire d.0.t c.0.m

Hi Maybe you can let your client access mailbox by pop3 on other devices. Then you can check leave a copy of message on the server option.Terence Yu TechNet Community Support
