How can I automatically sync (mirror) my laptop to a server whenever I am on a specific network?
I need to sync my laptop to a server, which will hold my work files (not just e-mails). Kind of like how Microsoft Exchange works with Outlook/e-mail, I would like it so my files are encrypted on a server at work; whenever I make changes or create a new document, my files on my computer are then automatically mirrored/sync to a server. So, if my laptop crashes or fails I am able to access my files on another computer through the server; when my original computer is fixed, I can then sync the files back to the original laptop as if nothing happened. Also, I would like the ability for synchronization to occur when I am on specific networks (i.e. work or home). I am using Windows 7. I hope that was clear enough. I appreciate the help.

You can accomplish this by a combination of folder redirection, offline folders and encryption. To quote from the SBS 2008 Help file:Folder redirection is almost transparent to users. They continue to access redirected folders as they always have. But instead of the data being stored in a local folder on their client computer, the data is stored in their shared folder on the server. Redirecting storage of user data to the server offers the following benefits: * Redirected folders can be included in the server backup.* Users can recover files that have been deleted accidentally.* If users log on to various computers on the network, their documents are always available.* Offline File technology gives users access to their Documents folder even when they are not connected to the network. This is particularly useful for people who use portable computers. However, you should discuss these matters in other forums than the Exchange Server General Forum, such as: Windows 7 IT Prohttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/category/w7itpro Windows Server Generalhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winservergen/threadsMCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M | Small Business Specialist
