How To Remove Failed DC From Directory Access List using Exchange 2003
We recently lost a DC. Now I am getting 2091 events on ONE of my 2003 SP2 Exchange servers. I went into ESM and looked at the properties of the server. Under the Directory Access tab, the old DC is listed with Site "Unknown." When I select it, I do not get the option to Remove. It is grayed out. For what it's worth, both the "Add" and "Remove" buttons are also grayed out for all servers listed. How should I go about removing this server from Directory Access? And is there any possible way I can do it without rebooting, or at least wait until our maintenance window next weekend? Oddly, the failed server does not appear in the list of DA servers on our SECOND Exchange 2003 SP2 server. I don't know if it cleaned up itself, or if the failed DC never was listed. (I don't remember looking at it before.) BTW, I have already removed the DC from Active Directory and run metadata cleanup and all that. Thank you.

I would suggest you to wait for replication and have a reboot in maintenance windows.Anil

Check out this article and see if your Exchange server is configured with a static domain controller. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/250570?p=1-- Ed Crowley MVP"There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems.". And if you want to manually specify the DC and GC you want to use, please clear Automatically discover servers check box. Details: How to Manually Create a Topology for Directory Access http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996093(EXCHG.65).aspxFrank Wang
