How MS Word resizes the pictures?

When i insert a image with large size (width and height are larger than the client area of MS Word), it automatically fits the image according to the available client area. Can anyone explain how MS word performs this?

Thanks,

Sathish

Hi Sathish,

Thanks for posting in MSDN forum.

This forum is for developers discussing developing issues involve Word applciation. Since the issue is more relative to end-user. I would like to move to to Word IT Pro Discussions forum.

The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us.
Thanks for your understanding.

Hi Sathish,

Please check if the settings below are set properly:

1. File > Options > Advanced > Image Size and Quality heading, select "Do not compress images in file".

2. Click to highlight the picture > Under the Picture Tools Format tab > Click Compress Pictures button in Adjust section and check the compression settings for the picture. Try changing the Target output option to "Use document resolution" to see the result.
