How Do I Federate Two Domains on Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2007
Hello I have a task of connecting two Exchange Organizations together. One organization is running Exchange 2010 and the other is running Exchange 2007. The main goal is to synchronize the address books of both domains. How can we go about this efficiently with the least amount of technicality. Thanks.

You might need to use ILM (Microsoft Identity Life Cycle Manager), See the below this might help you http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998597.aspx Do let me know if you have anything else, i would help you on that. Regards, Ashwini Kumar Know more about Messaging :-)

Also you can use Quest Migration Manager for Exchange http://www.quest.com/migration-manager-for-exchange/ another one could be FIM http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/identity-access-management/default.aspx Cheers, AshwiniKnow more about Messaging :-)

Thanks Kumar for your post. I went through the procedure, but it seems it will work only for an Exchange 2010-Exchange 2010 setup. In my case, the other partner is using Exchange 2007. Would this ILM still be successful? Thanks.

Kumar, what I actually meant was would the ILM and GAL synchronization work when one Organization uses Exchange 2010 and the other uses 2007?. Thanks.

ILM/FIM will create objects in the target directory (Mail Users) so they will appear in the GAL. Steve

ILM is expensive and complicated. There used to be a free version that was perfect for what is requested here, but it doesn't support Exchange 2010. This is why I suggested "third party".Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."
