Hosting their own mail server using SBS 2003 & MS Exchange 2003?
I have a client who seems to be hosting their own mail server, with a static IP from their ISP. They use MS Exchange as well, though the users seem to be setup through Small Business Server rather than in Exchange directly. Does anyone know where I would find their MX record so I could change it to a new mail host?

You mean just lookup their mx record? There are many ways; http://www.mxtoolbox.com/ or command prompt nslookup -type=mx company.comJames Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

Hello, If the DNS is handled by the registrar, i.e. Godaddy, netsol, etc, then the MX records are controlled by the DNS settings control panel of the registrar. If the DNS is handled in house, then the DNS servers will have the MX records in the DNS manager. You can access them using the DNS MMC. Since this is a SBS, it likely that the DNS is hosted by the registrar.Miguel Fra / Falcon IT Services Computer & Network Support, Miami, FL Visit our Knowledgebase and Support Sharepoint Site
