Horrible Office365 implementation

Fully updated Windows 7 Ultimate. Office 365

I had some of the primary components of O365 installed (Word, Excel, etc...) and wanted to install OneDrive. I download and ran the installer under the One Drive application in my O365 cpanel. It finished with the normal "You're all set!" statement but I found that, not only did it NOT install OneDrive, but it UNINSTALLED my other Office365 apps!!! No where during the install did it say it was uninstalling anything! What a horrible implementation of a half-baked product (O365)!!!

I ran the installer again and, again, it went through showing me a video on how to use my new apps, etc... but when done NO Office apps anywhere. Both the regular O365 apps and OneDrive are showing installed in the 'uninstall a program' section but when I browse to the actual program folder it's almost empty. WTH Microsoft!

Has anyone else experienced this? Do I have any other options other than deactivating the install in my cpanel and starting from scratch again?

So after going through the uninstall process (even nothing was installed) I was able to re-install the full O365 suite. Ridiculous that I had to go through a full uninstall and reinstall for just adding a component but at least it's resolved.

Hi Sir,

According to your description, Id like to know which application you want to install, OneDrive or OneDrive for Business? Please see the following article:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/sharepoint-server-help/what-is-onedrive-for-business-HA102822076.aspx

If you want to add OneDrive for Business, we need to use config.xml to add/remove a component, because Office 365 is used Click-2-run version.

We can use this to download an offline copy of the source and create an installer by following the next steps:

Step 1 - Download ODT www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

Step 2 Extract ODT

Run the officedeploymenttool.exe file you downloaded in Step 1.

This produces a Setup.exe and a configuration.xml file.

Copy the extracted files (setup.exe and configuration.xml) to "C:\Temp\ODT\"

Step 3 Create Download configuration file

Create a copy of the Configuration.xml file and name it "OneDrive_Download.xml"

Edit the Download.xml file to look like this:

<Configuration>

   <Add SourcePath="C:\Temp\ODT\" OfficeClientEdition="32" >

       <Product ID="GrooveRetail">

       <Language ID="en-us" />

       </Product>

   </Add>

</Configuration>

Step 4 Download the installation source

Open an elevated command window (Run as Administrator) and change the "C:\Temp\ODT" directory / the location of your setup.exe file.

Execute the download command

Setup.exe /download OneDrive_Download.xml

The software will begin downloading to your machine.

This process usually takes several minutes, but can take as longer depending on your internet connection and other factors.

Once the software is done downloading, the command window will return to the prompt.

Step 5 Configuration.xml for the installation

Create another copy of the configuration.xml file to be used for the install.

Name it "OneDrive_Install.xml"

<Configuration>

   <Add SourcePath="" OfficeClientEdition="32" >

       <Product ID="GrooveRetail">

       <Language ID="en-us" />

       </Product>

   </Add>

 <!--  <Updates Enabled="TRUE" UpdatePath="\\Server\Share\Office\<file:///\\Server\Share\Office\>" /> -->

 <!--  <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />  -->

 <!--  <Logging Name="OfficeSetup.txt" Path="%temp%" />  -->

 <!--  <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" />  --> </Configuration> Note the empty SourcePath to use a relative path for installation.

For details on the additional options please see the documentation for the configuration.xml:

technet.microsoft.com/.../jj219426.aspx

Step 6 Install the software

If you plan to cache the installation source to the local computer the installation command should look like:

Setup.exe /configure OneDrive_Install.xml

Hope it's helpful.

Hi George.

It was OneDrive for Business. It's definitely a serious issue when you sign into your O365 account, download the installer for a product (OneDrive for Business), and the installer UNINSTALLS all of your O365 products.

I already took care of the issue by installing the O365 suite all over again.
