Hiding selected data from Excel Pivot Table or PowerPivot refresh operation when underlying data exists

This question is here as far as PowerPivot is concerned, as its Excel part belongs to another forum.

The question is if I can distribute [statistics] Pivot Tables with their underlying data BUT with the ability to filter out of any Pivot Table refresh some records that the viewer is not allowed to see. I would setup a separate ExcelPivot.xlsx file for each one with underlying data AND the aforementioned filters, refresh the data from the current SalesStats.xlsx and ditribute that.

My SalesStats file holds all the company's sales and I want to be able to provide each Area Manager (with a live xlsx file for each one in order to handle different Pivot configurations) with their own Sales, effectively filtering out what does not concern them. I am confident that Excel's Pivot cannot handle this and I am trying to find out if something like that is possible with PowerPivot, in order to move to that direction.

Otherwise I would have to create a separate SalesStats master xlsx file for each one and distribute that around. And they would have to link their own, respective definition-only ExcelPivot.xlsx files to each new SalesStats.xlsx let's call it sub-file, in order to view their stats.

I hope my question is clear. Thanks in advance for taking the time to re
