Help with recovering or uninstalling exchange 2007 from organization when server failed
I had installed exchange 2007 within an organization with another exchange 2003 as I was configuring exchange 2007 I had hardware problems and I had to format the server and I'm trying to reinstall exchange.I had tryied to recover it and I manage to install Client Access role and Hub Transfer role.I have tryied Control Panel->Add/remove programs and then Change to install the other 2 features but I'm getting the error from Mailbox Role :" Setup previously failed while performing the action "Disaster Recovery".You cannot resume setup by performing the action "install". If try to remove exchange I'm getting the error on Hub transport : " This computer is configured as a bridgehead server for 2 routing group connectors in the organization. These must be moved or deleted before the Setup can continue". Can you tell how can I remove these connectors from the organization ? Is it from the server I have exchange 2007 or from the other servers and how? If you have any ideas feel free to tell me.Thank you very much

When you recover a server from a hardware failure you should use the setup.com /recoverserver /donnotstarttransport command. This will start the setup in recovery mode, which in your case is not happening when using the GUI. Try this... If that does not work, analyse the setuplogfiles and get back with some more information. There might be people out there that have struggled with similar issues. To remove routinggroup connectors: get-routinggroupconnector | ft name, sourcetransportservers, targettransportservers, guid This will enumerate all routingroup connectors. You can remove them by using the remove-routinggroupconnector <name|guid>. You can also usethe Exchange 2003 system manager to view and delete them.

Thanks that one worked with removing the connectors but still not all of exchange componets can be removed... it stopped at mailbox role and I'm getting the error :"Setup previously failed while performing the action "DisasterRecovery".You cannot resume setup by performing the action "Uninstall" " . Did I forget to delete any file or something? Any way to remove Mailbox role? (Hopefully I'll be able to make a fresh installation of exchange)

Try to recover the server using the setup.com /recoverserver first. If you want to uninstall the role after that, you can. If that does not work, check the setuplogs (c:\Exchangesetuplogs\) and post some more details.

I tried /recoverserver but now I'm having the error that Microsoft Exchange Transport Log Search service cannot start (that is because uninstallation I tried before worked and removed it as well as MSExchange Transport) but some of the services still are there and I cannot remove them so I can get a fresh installation of Exchange. Also when I'm on exchange system manager in the exchange 2003 server the I can see traces of Mailbox role inAdministrative tools->Servers. Is there a way to be removed completelyand remove any other setting that can stop me from installing exchange normally (Like the way it knows where it is going to do Disaster Recovery)

Hi I tried /recoverserver and I recovered mailbox role that was the only role left in the organization I want to try to reinstall the rest of the roles , hubtrasport..... but I cannot do that because MSExchange Trasport services cannot start.I checked the errors in event viewer and it says : A transient configuration error was detected while the routing configuration was loading. Exception details: The local server isn't a member of any routing group. : Microsoft.Exchange.Transport.Categorizer.TransientRoutingException: The local server isn't a member of any routing group. at Microsoft.Exchange.Transport.Categorizer.RoutingGroupRelayMap.ValidateConfig(ExchangeTopology topology, RawRoutingConfigData rawConfigData, DateTime timestamp) at Microsoft.Exchange.Transport.Categorizer.RoutingTables.ValidateConfig(RawRoutingConfigData rawConfigData) at Microsoft.Exchange.Transport.Categorizer.RoutingTables.PopulateTables(RawRoutingConfigData rawConfigData)" Any ideas?
