Help with connecting to email

Hi I am new to this forum. My PC's hard drive was recently fried during a power surge. I purchased a new (refurbished) PC with W7 Pro. Now I am attempting to reload programs, history and also reconnect to my email address. When I try to connect to my MS "Live" email, it appears to not recognize my email name or password.

I have no idea how to attempt to connect or get to this email--my main EM address.

Can you give me any help/suggestions. I figure that it isn't recognizing the new PC IP address?

How did you try to connect to your "Live" email?

Do you have your email account set up in Outlook desktop application? If so, please try creating a new mail profile in Control Panel and then reconfigure your email account to see the result. For your convenience:
