Help With Relaying!!
I will be migrating my Exchange 2000 server to Exchange 2007 here in the next week or two. But right now I need some help with my Exchange 2000 server dealing with Relaying... It seems I have allot of traffic that is trying to relay mail off my server so what is the best way to prevent Unwanted Relaying??/ Right now I have been just adding IP's to the deny list is there a better way?? Also what is the best way to clear out your Queues of message that are unwanted and prevent them from getting back in the Queue?? Anyway would be much appreciated and I hope when I get on Exchange 2007 it has better protection from Relaying...

1. secure your 2000 server from being an open relay:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324958 2. Make sure the guest account is disabled on that box. 3. Flush the queues without sending an NDR.

1st Thanks for the response! Ok the guest account has always been disable. Looking over the KB now but is there a way to Flush all of the Queues at once instead of going to them all individually???

Ok reading over the KB Article in one area it says to this.. Right now mine was set to none so I'm going to change this to what they reccommend on the SMTP Protocol.. Determine whether an authenticated user is relaying This section enables logging in the Windows Event Viewer such that any authentication attempts against the SMTP service (successful or failures) are logged in the application log. 1. Start Exchange Administrator. 2. Double-click Servers. 3. Under Servers, right-click ServerName, and then click Properties. 4. Click the Diagnostic Logging tab. 5. Click MSExchangeTransport on the left. 6. On the right, click SMTP Protocol. 7. Under Logging Level, click Maximum. 8. Click OK to close Server Properties

Ok followed the KB Article and cleared all my Queues. Right now my SMTP Virtual Server is running but I'am not receiving outside mail. I tried emailing myself from a Yahoo account and I dont get anything..
