Having trouble sending email to a .mil email address
I am having some trouble sending email to a .mil address. The error code that it returns is The destination server for this recipient could not be found in Domain Name Service (DNS). Please verify the email address and retry. If that
fails, contact your administrator. xxxx#5.4.0

Do your own check.
NSLOOKUP
set type=MX
whatever.mil
Does it resolve?
Does your Exchange server send directly to recipient domains or does it use a smart host?

Hello nvbruin,
Please check whether DNS server is able to resolve the XXX.mil domain or not.
Add the IP 4.2.2.2 on the Forwarder of the DNS server console.
Go to CMD --
nslookup
set q=mx
xxx.mil
If you DNS server is able to resolved the MX for .MIL domain. Then use
the MX IP as smarthost and create a dedicated Send Connector or SMTP connector for the xxx.mil domain.
Restart the SMTP on E2K3 OR Transport service on E2K7.
It will fix the issue.MicroSoft Exchange Admin. & Connector EXCHANGE2010, MCSE, MCTS, MCSA MESSAGING, CCNA & GNIIT

Hi nvbruin,
How about your question? Any updates?
If you can resolved the MX, you can also try to telnet to test.
