Have I been playing Russion Roulette with My Operating Systems by Using Registry Cleaners?
Ever since I got into PC's I have been obsessed with performance and tweaking and I must admit two years ago I did not even know what a disk defragmenter was. I have moved on alot from then I can do just about anything I put my mind too when I am on my lovely PC and even though allot of people hate it I love my Windows Vista and I want everything to be perfect on it.That is when I started using registry cleaners, and let me tell you all now, never use them under any circumstances! I was so frilled when I first used one my system never seemed better so I downloaded more and more and my system got better and better! To me reg cleaners were the holey grail of utility software , that is until I generated a system health report and found to my horror that software I deleted months ago had resurfaced and still trying to run services that did not exist any more but were still trying to run, my start up times began to bloat into the six minute mark and software that ran perfectly well before began to play up.I still did not realise at this time what I had done and I managed to sort out most of the problems apart from the phantom services and long start ups, but after a few weeks after I had done a disk check and restarted my system, the blue screen of death loomed other me, everything was gone I lost everything but I was sensible enough to back everything up as best as I could and decided to restart my whole system, and everything was fine until I started using registry cleaners again and the same thing happened so now I am on my third reboot now and I asked one of my mates who is a qualified IT tech to take a look my PC and he was shocked at what I had on my PC regcure, registry Mechanic, registry booster, you name it I had it and he said that registry cleaners are one of the most dangerous pieces of software out there he even compared them to malware!well he managed to fix most of the problems I had from the over use I may have to restart my system yet again as one of those phantom services have reappeared (RoxLiveShare9) and I have a start up hang of two minutes between the Windows welcome screen and the showing of the desktop. If anyone could help me with these last two issues from my ignorence I would be truly thankful! My advice to anyone who comes across anyone who advocates registry cleaners to speed up your PC to think again because one day you may pull that trigger and find that the barrel is not empty after all!
