HELP: receive connector with a destination domain filter
Is it possible to use the receive connector with a destination domain filter? For example all mail going to @example.com domain must come from our mailguard server(s) and all mail going to @microsoft.com can directly goto exchange 2007. Problem is we have multiple domains and only some are protected by mailguard. Some how spam email is directly getting to our exchange server where it is meant to be filtered by mailguard. Right now we have 0.0.0.0-255.255.255.255 set as the remote servers in the Default Receive Connector to allow for the unprotected domains. Any input on how we could achieve this would be appreciated!

I am a little vague with your setup and need to make a couple of assumtions: Assuming your talking about inbound mail to your domain(s) only. I will assume you have the MX records for the domains you want mailgaurd to filter directed to Mailgaurd service or servers. At this point you may create a secondary Edge server(s)to recieve mail for the domains being filtered. Configure the firewall to only pass STMP (25) mailfrom the IP ranges of the mailgaurd servers to the new Edge Server(s). This ensures the only communication to these domains flow from the mailguard service/server(s) to the Edge servers host the domains of your choice. Hope this is clear and helpful.

Hi, Please describe the environment of your exchange that you deployed. Have you deployed the Edge server? Are the example.com and Microsoft.com represent your internal domain or external domain? Did you mean the receive connector can function based on the internal destination domain address or external domain address? Thanks Allen
