Group Address books/lists
SBS 2008 network with Exchange 2007. How do I create a shared address book/list so others on the network can read, add, modify or delete entries from Outlook? I would think just about every business with a local email server would see the need for a shared email address list/book. It’s amazing it’s not included by default in SBS, ready to go. Methods required to modify the GAL seems complex! Would it be more efficient/easier to create a new list in say the Public Folder? Is there a link to instructions on how this is done? Thanks for any help!

"Would it be more efficient/easier to create a new list in say the Public Folder? " Yes. The GAL is merely a representation of mail-enabled objects within Active Directory. One doesn't modify the GAL directly, but instead adds or removes objects from Active Directory. You can now see why this control is not exposed to end-users. Short of public folders, you could also dedicate a mailbox to be the shared contact repository and then configure the permissions accordingly so that other users can connect to this shared location.
