Hi,

According to your description, my understanding is you need to use connector to glue two shape geometry.

If I miss understanding something, please let me know.

I tested in my Visio 2013 and we could choose the shape connect points.

So I do not understand They just glue to the whole shape.

Please check the following picture:

Hi

I want to connect anywhere on the shape geometry not just where there are connection points. I don't have any connection points on my shapes, instead I have marked the option glue to shape geometry. It works in previous versions of Visio but not in 2013. It seems to work with 1D-shapes though but not 2D-shapes.

Thanks for your help.

This is the command I use but it still doesn't work for me. It looks OK on your picture. One funny thing is that it works fine with the Line Tool but not with the Connector Tool. I will also try it with an English version of Visio. I have the Swedish one.

On your first link I see another person having the same problem.

I too am having the same issue as Staffan is. No matter how I set the snap & glue settings, visio 2013 will not snap or glue to geometry while using the dynamic connector.

George- In your picture above, it looks like you are connecting shapes using the line tool (which does snap and glue to geometry just fine)it's they dynamic connector that has the problem.

I have the english version installed for both visio 2013(365) + visio 2010 pro. This problem is not present with the 2010 version.

What else can possibly be affecting this?

This is also happening to me, I've never tried using the normal line tool because what I want is a dynamic connector.  2013 is driving me crazy, I'm ready to go back to 2010 because of this mess.

Thanks for letting me know that I'm not the only one with this problem. It's a serious matter and I can not recommend a customer of mine to upgrade to Visio 2013 before this is solved. I will try to discuss this with someone at Microsoft.

I am having the same problem.  I just upgraded to 2013, and am wondering why I didn't stay with 2010.  No matter what I do, I cannot get the connector tool to connect a connector between two shapes anywhere on the geometry, when I have the "glue to shape geometry" enabled.  I have to actually create the connection point first, then do the connection.  This is slow and tedious.  I need to be able to quickly connect two shapes and have Visio automatically create the connection point, just like in version 2010.  I don't want to use lines.

This is a serious issue with this product.

I've yet to see the moderator respond to this latest plea nor even demonstrate a understanding of how connecting to a shape geometry behaved in Visio 2010 vs. Visio 2013.   Anyone from Microsoft please assist in restoring connect to shape behavior.

Yes, PLEASE. As a Visio user since before MS acquired the company I've been thru many versions. Visio 2013 is broken in ways clearly stated by others, above. I cannot use it as the snap and glue function is so messed up despite hours of frustration thinking I must be missing something and trying to make it work.

Fortunately, I am the first in the office to do the upgrade so everyone else is still at 2007 or 2010.

I have no choice at this time but to revert back because I really do need to stop wrestling with the issue get productive.

I can confirm DPGraham's statement, "This is a serious issue with this product."
